About your new role:
The health and wellbeing of our people is more important than ever. If you are passionate about creating a safe, healthy and a positive work environment and are familiar with working in small to medium organisations then this role may suit you. Reporting to the People Experience Manager, the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor provides expert advice on health, safety and wellbeing matters to ensure our working environment in the office or at home is the safest it can be.
You will have a passion for health, wellbeing and safety and have the confidence to speak up when something isn’t right. Your genuine care for people and adaptable, collaborative, and detailed orientated approach will suit our “for purpose” organisation. This role is a blend of compliance, monitoring and maintenance with the opportunity for you to make the role your own when implementing initiatives supported by an established health and safety committee.
This role includes but is not limited to:
- Advise and support managers on all aspects of health, safety and wellbeing
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation across all jurisdictions
- Conduct risk assessments and investigations where required, and develop action plans to ensure compliance
- Update health and safety policies and procedures
- Manage illness and injury cases, risks and interventions
- Fulfill project responsibilities – e.g. coordinate training and awareness sessions on health, safety and well-being topics (psychosocial training), promotion of our well-being calendar and coordination of identified wellbeing college events
- Chair our established and supportive Health, Safety and Wellbeing Committee
Keys to your success:
This role will ideally suit a good problem solver, an empathetic individual with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances as required.
Specifically, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications and relevant certifications in health and safety.
- Demonstrated experience in health and safety ideally in an office-based environment.
- Excellent influencing and business partnering skills with the ability to drive a proactive health, safety and wellbeing culture at all levels of the College.
- Strong understanding of contemporary workplace health and safety issues, models and best practice, with sound legislative knowledge.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt to the audience as required
- Well-developed computer skills with an aptitude to use in-house programs and a Learning Management System (LMS).
- Experience in office based ergonomic assessments would be an advantage but not essential
