About the opportunity: 

The Data and Insights Specialist role will play a key role in supporting evidence-based decision-making across ANZCA and FPM by providing accurate, timely data, information, and analytical insights.  

The role will involve collaborating closely with the IT team to build and enhance the college's data governance framework and improve data maturity, ultimately empowering the Education and Research team with actionable insights to drive strategic initiatives and undertake education governance related activities. 

This a permanent, full-time role reporting to the Governance and Compliance Manager (we are currently recruiting for this new leadership role). You will have the opportunity to shape the future direction of the data governance and data/ insights capabilities.  

The Development and Governance unit sits within ANZCA’s Education and Research department. Together, the team leads the strategic design and continuous improvement of training and professional development programs, including curricula and assessment frameworks, digital learning, policy and governance systems, and reporting and evaluation. 

This team also supports ANZCA’s education governance committees and communities of practice—ensuring our programs are responsive, evidence-based, and aligned with global best practice and local health equity priorities. 

Keys to your success: 

You are an expert data and insights professional with demonstrated experience in developing and implementing data management practices across an organisation.   

You will ideally bring: 

Essential  

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in data science, education, health, or a related field.  
  • Proven experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting within an educational or professional setting, preferably in health or higher education.  
  • Experience in working with Business Intelligence (BI) tools and reporting platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Excel).  
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct data analysis, interpret findings, and deliver actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.  
  • Experience in producing clear and impactful reports, dashboards, and data visualisations tailored to diverse stakeholder groups.  
  • Ability to design, implement, and evaluate surveys, including statistical analysis and interpretation of results.  
  • Sound understanding of data governance principles, including data privacy, security, and compliance requirements.  
  • Ability to support the development of data governance frameworks and contribute to enhancing data maturity within an organisation.  
  • Strong experience in survey design, including question formulation, sampling methods, and survey tool selection.  
  • Ability to analyse survey results, report on findings, and use feedback to inform decision-making and program improvements.  
  • Familiarity with survey platforms (e.g., SurveyMonkey, Qualtrics) and tools for data collection and analysis.  
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a proven ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders (e.g., academics, clinicians, trainees, IT teams).  
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.  
  • Strong project management skills, with experience in coordinating data-related initiatives and activities from conception through to implementation.  

Desirable 

  • Prior experience working in education, health or a membership-based organisation, particularly in a data-driven role.  
  • Experience with data management systems (e.g., iMIS, CRM systems) and content management systems for managing web resource.  
  • Familiarity with Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and governance frameworks and experience in coordinating M&E activities to assess program impact.
