The Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) incorporating the Faculty of Pain Medicine, is an internationally recognised specialist medical education institution responsible for the training, examinations, specialist qualification, and continuing professional development of all anaesthetists and pain medicine specialists in Australia and New Zealand.  

The college's purpose is to serve our communities by leading high quality patient care in anaesthesia, perioperative and pain medicine, optimizing health and reducing the burden of pain.  

About the opportunity 

We are seeking an Education Development and Projects Officer to support the design, development and delivery of high-quality education initiatives within a complex, professional environment. 

Working within the Education Development and Governance team, this role plays a key part in coordinating education projects, supporting accreditation and governance activities, and contributing to the continuous improvement of training and professional development programs. 

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys project coordination, working with diverse stakeholders, and contributing to meaningful education outcomes, particularly within healthcare, tertiary education, or membership-based organisations.  

The role currently reports to the Head of Education Development & Governance. 

About the team:  

The Education Development and Governance unit leads the strategic direction, development and continuous improvement of training and professional development. The unit is also responsible for the development and management of the education governance framework, evaluation, reporting, data and policy and process for the function. This department provides strategic support to committees, including leading the Committee Service Officer (CSO) Community of Practice, and ensuring educational initiatives align with compliance and quality standards.

You are a highly organised and proactive professional who thrives in a collaborative, project-based environment. You bring strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities while meeting deadlines. 

Specifically, you will bring:   

Essential: 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (education, business, healthcare or similar) or equivalent experience in research and project management 
  • Demonstrated experience supporting education development and/or project coordination 
  • Understanding of curriculum development and assessment frameworks (ideally in tertiary or specialist training contexts) 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing reports and committee papers 
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret and present information clearly for decision-making 
  • Demonstrated capability to translate complex information into clear documentation and communications 
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and confidence engaging with diverse stakeholders 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and virtual meeting platforms (e.g. MS Teams, Zoom) 
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently 

Desirable: 

  • Experience in a medical college, university, education association or membership organisation 
  • Experience with survey design, insights or evaluation activities
