The Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) incorporating the Faculty of Pain Medicine, is an internationally recognised specialist medical education institution responsible for the training, examinations, specialist qualification, and continuing professional development of all anaesthetists and pain medicine specialists in Australia and New Zealand.  

The college's purpose is to serve our communities by leading high quality patient care in anaesthesia, perioperative and pain medicine, optimizing health and reducing the burden of pain.  

About the opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with strong investment and business case capability to lead projects from initial investment definition through to delivery and benefits realisation. 

This role plays a critical part in shaping high quality, evidence-based investment decisions. In Phase 1, you will lead the development of business cases and associated investment analysis, partnering closely with Finance, subject matter experts and senior stakeholders. Once approved, you will transition into full end to end delivery accountability, managing scope, budget, schedule, risks and outcomes. 

You will work across a diverse portfolio of initiatives, coordinating inputs from multiple business areas and vendors, and preparing decision ready material for Executive and Council consideration. 

This is a great opportunity for a Project Manager who enjoys both strategic investment thinking and disciplined delivery. The position reports to the Head of Projects. 

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Develop executive‑level business cases and investment proposals with clear options and recommendations  
  • Lead financial modelling, investment assumptions, and cost controls in partnership with Finance  
  • Translate approved investments into clear delivery plans with defined outcomes and success measures  
  • Deliver projects end‑to‑end, managing scope, budget, risks, dependencies, vendors, and partners  
  • Define, track, and report benefits across strategic, financial, and operational outcomes  
  • Provide high‑quality governance reporting, papers, and executive briefings  
  • Build strong executive and stakeholder relationships, supporting decision‑making and change readiness

Keys to your success

You are a confident and well-rounded Project Manager who can operate comfortably at both executive and delivery level. You are analytical, structured and collaborative, with a strong ability to translate complexity into clear recommendations. 

Specifically, you will have:   

Essential: 

  • Proven experience managing complex projects and authoring executive or board level business cases 
  • Strong capability in options analysis, benefits definition and investment reasoning 
  • Experience working closely with Finance on financial and commercial analysis 
  • Ability to operate effectively in complex, multi stakeholder environments 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive level writing 
  • Sound understanding of governance, risk and decision-making frameworks 
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365 and contemporary project delivery tools 

Desirable: 

  • Experience in member‑based, professional, health or education organisations 
  • Project management, business analysis or investment management qualifications 
  • Experience working with Council, Board or equivalent governance bodies
