The Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) incorporating the Faculty of Pain Medicine, is an internationally recognised specialist medical education institution responsible for the training, examinations, specialist qualification, and continuing professional development of all anaesthetists and pain medicine specialists in Australia and New Zealand.

The college's purpose is to serve our communities by leading high quality patient care in anaesthesia, perioperative and pain medicine, optimizing health and reducing the burden of pain.

About the team

The Communications team is responsible for internal and external communications. This is achieved largely through ANZCA’s digital channels (the website, bulk emailing and social media) as well as publications including the quarterly ANZCA Bulletin and mainstream media.

ANZCA has a “digital first” approach to its communications utilising the college’s website as its core.

About the opportunity

We are seeking a talented Communications Advisor to join our Policy and Communications Unit, supporting engaging, accurate and timely communications across our digital platforms and publications.

Reporting to the Senior Communications Advisor, this role supports the Communications team through high quality writing, editing and coordination of digital communications, social media and publications, along with day-to-day administrative support.

Key responsibilities

  • Produce and manage the monthly ANZCA E Newsletter, including writing, editing and EDM distribution
  • Create, edit and schedule digital content across the website, email campaigns and social media
  • Lead ANZCA’s social media presence, including campaign planning, event scheduling and performance tracking
  • Support ANZCA publications (ANZCA Bulletin and Australasian Anaesthesia) through editing, proofreading and production coordination
  • Provide communications administration and collaboration support, including inbox and calendar management, website updates and stakeholder liaison

About you

You are an enthusiastic communications professional who thrives in a fast paced, collaborative environment and enjoys navigating creative and administrative tasks.

You will bring

Essential:

  • A university qualification in communications (or similar)
  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail
  • Experience working across digital platforms, EDMs and content management systems
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and basic Adobe Suite skills
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work autonomously to tight deadlines
  • Confidence in administrative tasks and strong interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, solutions focused mindset and passion for communications

Desirable:

  • Experience with Informz EDM and/or Kentico CMS
  • Interest in emerging and evolving social media tools
